Newnans Lake, Gainesville FL
We are very excited to be hosting this year's GatorHead right here at Newnans Lake and look forward to providing a good course that is also Novice friendly. The 7,500 acre lake that borders East Gainesville is surrounded by stately cypress trees draped in Spanish moss, Sabal palms, and other native trees and plants. Wildlife watching along its shores includes wading birds and nesting bald eagles and osprey. (Because of the abundant wildlife in the area, we strongly emphasize that it would be best to leave dogs at home for this event. Insect repellent is also recommended). Home to both Gainesville Area Rowing and Florida Crew, the University of Florida's rowing club, the lake is a great spot for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and biking. Bicycles are recommended to ease the 1.5 mile commute from the boat launching area to the spectator area at Palm Point.

Tentative Schedule (updated 8/26/08)
THIS IS A TENTATIVE SCHEDULE. The order of events will not change, but event times may. Seeding and official race times will be posted after all entries have been received.
We may close up some of the gaps if there is a lack of entries (and lengthen if there are extra entries) unless it causes equipment usage problems for smaller teams. In the past, 2- and 2x events have sometimes been combined if there is a low number of entries, but only if all teams affected agree to such a change. Racing will not start any earlier than 9:00am and will conclude no later than 3:00pm.
