Bill Feaster, Head Coach and Novice Women’s Coach
Bill graduated from the University of Florida a long time ago with a B.S. in Journalism and a commission as an army officer. During his 21-year career in the army, he earned Master’s degrees in psychological counseling and in contracts & acquisition management. Bill and his wife Pam also raised four children, one of whom tried rowing and got Dad involved.
Bill was head coach for Gainesville High School Crew in 1998–1999 and has supported both GHS and GAR Crews since then. This year he is very excited at the prospect of working with rowers from all of Gainesville’s high schools and middle schools, molding a team that will continue to enjoy the success to which GAR has become accustomed. Bill is certified as a Level III coach by US Rowing.
Firmly convinced that crew attracts the best and brightest from our schools and our community, Bill looks forward every year to working with Gainesville’s rowers, young and old.

Justin Burgess, Varsity Women’s Coach
GAR welcomes Justin Burgess back for his third year as Varsity Women’s Coach. Justin rowed for four years at Edgewater High, winning two state championships (in 3rd 8 and Varsity 8), and placing 5th at the USA Youth National Crew Championships in JV8. He worked as assistant novice coach at Edgewater for a year, rowed for four years at Syracuse University, and coached three summers for the Syracuse Chargers Rowing Club and two summers for GAR.
Justin recently graduated from Syracuse with a triple major in Political Science, American History, and History of Architecture and has just completed the Master’s Program in the Political Campaigning at the University of Florida. Justin is certified as a Level III coach by US Rowing.

Michael Moseley, Varsity Men’s Coach
GAR is very happy to have Michael back for a forth year, the second in his role as Men’s Varsity Coach. Michael rowed for four years with Lake Brantley, winning one bronze, three silver, and one gold medal at FSRA States during his career. Michael was also captain of the team his senior year. Michael coached the Lake Brantley men’s team during the summers of 2005 and 2006.
Michael is a full-time student at the University of Florida. He is majoring in accounting and minoring in math and education. Michael is certified as a Level II coach by US Rowing.

Steve Camp, Novice Men’s Coach
Steve brings experience to his role as a coach both as a rower and as a GAR parent. His son Andrew joined the Eastside High School Crew ten years ago. His daughter Rebecca was a GAR coxswain for three years as well.
Steve began rowing himself when his son started crew. During the 2003 sprint season, he rowed in a Masters Mixed 4+ and a Master’s Mens 4+. Both boats were undefeated and won gold at the Southeast Regional Championships. Steve is certified as a Level III coach by US Rowing.

Jen Figueroa, Sculling Coach
Jen brings a wealth of knowledge to her second year coaching the GAR middle school scullers. Jen rowed varsity for two years at Edgewater High School and was both Co-Captain and Most Valuable Oarswoman. Jen rowed all four of her years at the University of Charleston while earning her B.S. degree in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training. Jen earned both the Academic Athlete of the Year award and the Sports Person of the Year award. Jen also rowed while earning her M.S. in Kinesiology/Motor Control at Cal State - Fullerton.
Currently a science teacher at Buchholz High School, Jen has continued rowing with the GAR Masters program and has coached both the GAR youth (during summer camps) and GAR Masters rowers. Jen is certified as a Level II coach by US Rowing.

Clayton Cox, Assistant Coach
GAR wants to extend a warm welcome to its new assistant coach, Clayton Cox. Clayton began at Lake Brantley High School in 1997 rowing in the Novice 8 and the Varsity Lightweight 8 which went on to place 4th at Scholastic Nationals. Clayton came to UF in 1998, rowing 3 years with Florida Crew. He took second at Dad Vails in the Novice Lightweight 8 in 1999. In 2000, the UF squad won the FIRA men’s points trophy for the first time in club history. Clayton’s first experience coaching was filling in as UF Men’s Varsity coach during the fall of 2001 and last year coached the Varsity Women for Florida Crew.
Clayton will begin a Ph.D. program in Interdisciplinary Ecology at UF this fall. Clayton is certified as a Level II coach by US Rowing.

Matt McLain, Assistant Coach
Matt comes to GAR after four successful years rowing with the Lake Brantley Rowing Association (LBRA), where he earned 62 total medals, including two bronze and one silver at “States.” His senior year, Matt was both Team Captain and LBRA Oarsman of the Year. Matt has coached for the LBRA Summer Rowing Camp and was GAR’s assistant coach for the 2006-7 school year.
Matt is currently a full-time student at the University of Florida.  Though this fall he is spending a semester studying in Madrid, Spain, Matt will return to GAR in spring.  He is majoring in business administration and minoring in Spanish. Matt is certified as a Level I coach by US Rowing
